ACF Demands Clear Timeline for Easing Nigerians’ Hardship

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has urged the Federal Government to acknowledge the shortcomings of its economic reforms and set clear timelines for improving Nigerians’ living conditions.

The forum’s Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tukur Mohammed-Baba, made the call during an interview with ARISE News on Thursday, criticising the government for failing to adequately assess the impact of the reforms before implementation.

Mohammed-Baba said the administration should move beyond justifying the reforms and present measurable targets for addressing rising living costs, declining purchasing power, high transport and electricity costs, and worsening living conditions.

He also questioned the government’s repeated requests for more time, arguing that it should specify what it intends to achieve within particular periods.

“Three months is enough time, I think, to put in place certain measures that will ameliorate the sufferings of people,” he said.

The ACF spokesman further criticised what he described as a disparity between the sacrifices demanded of Nigerians and the conduct of government officials. He urged the administration to demonstrate its commitment to easing hardship through concrete action.

On the 2027 general elections, Mohammed-Baba said the forum would support candidates and political parties based on their commitment to good governance, accountability, equity and anti-corruption.

He also urged political leaders to make realistic promises and focus on commitments they could deliver.
