Emotions ran high on Monday as family members, friends, church leaders, associates, and well-wishers gathered at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp, Abuja, to celebrate the remarkable life of late Chief Engr. Godswill Nwosu (KSC) during a solemn Service of Songs.
The cathedral was filled with mourners who came to pay their final respects to the late engineer, fondly known as “Chinemeze,” whose life was described as one of unwavering faith, humility, generosity, and selfless service to humanity.
Delivering a heartfelt tribute, the Primate of All Nigeria and Bishop of Abuja, The Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, described Chief Nwosu as a devoted Christian, a man of wisdom, and a committed prayer warrior whose dedication to the Cathedral Church of the Advent left an indelible mark.
According to the Primate, although the Anglican Communion has witnessed the passing of several committed members this year, the death of Chief Nwosu has been particularly painful for the cathedral family.
He urged the bereaved family to remain steadfast in God, assuring them that their loved one had completed his earthly assignment and entered into eternal glory.
Reflecting on the legacy of the deceased, Primate Ndukuba challenged the congregation to live lives of purpose and impact.
“What will be your legacy? What will people remember you for when you are gone? How many lives have you touched, and where will you spend eternity?” he asked.
He added that Chief Nwosu had lived a life worthy of emulation.
“He laboured faithfully and has now gone to rest with the Lord. His legacy will continue to speak long after him. Those of us who are still alive must live for Christ so that our own lives will also leave lasting footprints.”
Speaking on behalf of Chief Nwosu’s friends, Barr. Nnamdi Asumugha recalled their long-standing friendship, noting that they were neighbours in Gwarimpa and both hailed from Nnewi.
He described the late engineer as a remarkably humble, accessible, and generous man who never hesitated to extend a helping hand.
“He was someone you could call at any time for assistance, and he would always be there. His passing came as a huge shock to all of us, and many in our community are still struggling to accept the reality,” he said.
A staff member of his company, Uju Chibogu, remembered Chief Nwosu as an exceptional employer whose leadership was defined by compassion, simplicity, discipline, and genuine concern for the welfare of others.
“He was more than a boss; he was a father figure. Though his absence has created a vacuum that cannot be filled, his kindness and wisdom will remain with us forever,” she said.
The Vicar’s Council Society and members of the Cathedral Church of the Advent also paid glowing tributes, describing him as a committed church worker, generous giver, and devoted family man whose contributions to the growth of the church will never be forgotten.
Representatives of the Men’s Fellowship, the Nnewi Council of Knights, and the Bishop’s nominees equally extolled his virtues, describing him as dependable, humble, and deeply committed to God’s work.
Speaking on behalf of the bishop’s nominees, Mr. Samuel Olayinka described Chief Nwosu as “a humble servant of God whose life reflected the values of Christ.”
In an emotional family tribute, his daughter, Nmesoma Nwosu, described her father as a loving parent, inspiring leader, and selfless mentor whose influence would continue to guide the family.
His son, Chigozim Nwosu, recalled his father’s enduring advice that wealth should be used not only for personal comfort but also to uplift others and make meaningful contributions to society.
Preaching from Luke 16:19, the officiating minister, Fatusi, reminded the congregation that earthly achievements are temporary and urged everyone to live with eternity in view, stressing that every action carries eternal consequences.
On behalf of the family, Chief Nwosu’s elder brother, Dr. Chinedu Zephaniah, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the clergy, dignitaries, friends, and well-wishers for their overwhelming support and comforting words.
He also thanked corporate organisations, including Zenith Bank, Glo, and MTN, for standing by the family during the period of mourning, while commending the church choir for its uplifting ministration. He appealed for continued prayers for the family as they navigate the difficult loss.
Late Chief Engr. Godswill Nwosu (KSC), born in 1977, is survived by his wife, four children, his parents, Sir and Lady Zeph Nwosu (Ugunnwanne) of Akaboezem, Uruagu, Nnewi, and two brothers.
He will be laid to rest at his family home in Nnewi, Anambra State, on Friday, July 10, 2026.
