Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Northern creative industry professionals to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
Shettima made the call on Wednesday in Abuja when he received a delegation of Northern Performing Artists under the aegis of Triple-R For Renewed Hope at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign office.
He said the North stood to benefit from the Tinubu administration’s creative economy initiatives, including efforts to empower artists, preserve cultural heritage, and create economic opportunities.
The Vice President assured Northern artists, filmmakers, and musicians that the Federal Government would continue to introduce interventions aimed at developing the region’s entertainment industry.
Shettima also urged the group to remain committed to the APC, saying the benefits of the administration’s reforms would become more evident across different sectors.
Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, said Tinubu’s re-election campaign would be based on the administration’s achievements. He also dismissed claims that the North had been excluded from federal appointments and projects.
Former Katsina Governor Aminu Masari commended the creatives for pledging support for Tinubu and other APC candidates, while former Kano Governor and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje called for greater investment in the entertainment industry, particularly infrastructure and training for emerging artists.
The President of Triple-R For Renewed Hope, Dauda Kahutu Rarara, pledged the group’s support for Tinubu and APC candidates across the North in the 2027 elections.
Rarara said Northern creatives were united in their support for the President, while the group’s National Chairman, Lawan Ahmad, and Secretary, Ahmad Bifa, also pledged to mobilize support for APC candidates.
The group, however, appealed to the Federal Government for greater support for Northern creatives, particularly through improved infrastructure and measures to enhance the welfare of industry professionals.
