Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has said President Bola Tinubu faces greater hostility in Imo State and the South-East than the late former President Muhammadu Buhari did.

Okorocha made the remark during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, insisting that Tinubu had done nothing wrong to the Igbo people.
According to him, the All Progressives Congress (APC) faced significant opposition in Imo State during Buhari’s administration, but the negative perception of Tinubu in the region is even greater.
“Tinubu has done no wrong to any Igbo man. His best friends in Lagos are Igbos,” he said.
The former governor cautioned against interpreting dissatisfaction with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as opposition to Tinubu, arguing that the two issues should not be confused.
He also expressed confidence that Tinubu would win Imo State in the 2027 presidential election, claiming that his emergence as the APC candidate for Imo West Senatorial District would strengthen the President’s chances.
Okorocha’s comments come amid a political dispute with Uzodimma over the APC’s Imo West senatorial ticket. A Federal High Court in Abuja had ruled in Okorocha’s favour, declaring him the winner of the party’s primary, while the governor’s camp indicated plans to challenge the judgment.
The former governor also challenged Uzodimma to appeal the ruling, insisting that the facts of the case would prevail.
