Zenith Bank Plc’s Founder and Chairman, Dr. Jim Ovia, alongside the Group Managing Director/CEO, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, has reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and sustaining investor confidence.
Speaking at the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) during the closing gong ceremony on Wednesday, Dr. Umeoji expressed delight at participating in the symbolic event, describing it as “a symbol of shared progress and enduring partnership.”
She commended the NGX’s innovative leadership and highlighted the critical role of its X-Stream electronic trading platform in Zenith Bank’s highly successful recapitalisation exercise, which recorded a 160% subscription. According to her, the bank’s share price has since doubled—rising from ₦36.50 to ₦68 per share.
Zenith Bank, she noted, achieved impressive Half-Year (H1) 2025 results, emerging as Nigeria’s most profitable bank and paying the highest interim dividend in the industry.
“We are committed to creating value for our stakeholders and will continue to partner with the NGX to boost the Nigerian economy,” Dr. Umeoji stated.
“Our expansion strategy is focused on following our customers’ businesses and ensuring that we go to countries and economies where we can scale and provide more returns for our shareholders.”
She further assured shareholders that the bank would sustain its record of robust dividend payouts, pledging that Zenith would remain “the investors’ delight” and continue to deliver enhanced dividends by year-end.
In his remarks, the Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Dr. Emomotimi Agama, applauded the NGX for its role in driving value creation within Nigeria’s economy.
“At my assumption of office, market capitalisation stood at ₦55 trillion; today, it hovers between ₦89 trillion and ₦93 trillion. That growth was achieved through your tenacity, courage, and vision,” Agama said. “Our goal is to see the market hit ₦200 trillion by next year.”
Also speaking, the Doyen of the NGX, Rasheed Yusuf, praised Dr. Jim Ovia for his pioneering leadership and contribution to the banking sector, describing him as the “Doyen of the Commercial Banking Sector.”
Zenith Bank continues to consolidate its leadership position in Nigeria’s financial industry, leveraging innovation, resilience, and strategic expansion to deliver value for stakeholders and strengthen the nation’s economic landscape.
