Veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji has drawn widespread criticism online after taking a leading role in a pro-government rally held in Abuja in support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The event, organised by the Re-elect Tinubu For Inclusive Nigeria (RTIFN) group, featured several actors and public figures who commended the administration’s efforts in infrastructure development and security, while also calling for stronger action against rising insecurity.
Addressing journalists during the gathering, Orji, who serves as Deputy Director-General of the movement, urged citizens to support the government’s policies ahead of the 2027 elections.
However, reactions on social media quickly shifted focus from the rally to the actor’s appearance, with videos showing him looking physically frail circulating widely online. Critics questioned the endorsement of the administration amid ongoing economic hardship and security concerns.
Some commentators accused celebrities of being disconnected from the realities faced by ordinary Nigerians, while others defended their right to express political preferences without facing personal attacks.
The development highlights ongoing divisions in public opinion regarding the government’s performance, particularly in areas of economic management and national security.
