World Cup Shock: Norway Knock Out Brazil, Oliseh Reacts

Norway produced one of the biggest upsets of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, defeating Brazil 2-1 in the Round of 16 to reach the quarterfinals for the first time in their history.

Erling Haaland scored twice late in the match, finding the net in the 79th and 90th minutes to seal a dramatic victory at MetLife Stadium in the United States. Neymar pulled one back for Brazil from the penalty spot deep into stoppage time, but it was not enough to prevent their earliest World Cup exit since 1990.

The result marks a historic milestone for Norway, who had never progressed this far in the competition.

Reacting to the defeat, former Nigeria captain Sunday Oliseh criticized Brazil’s performance, saying the team has lost its traditional identity and dominance.

“The Brazil we used to know is completely gone,” Oliseh wrote on X. “This team is sadly playing ordinary football. Bravo Norway.”

Norway will now face either England or Mexico in the quarterfinals as their fairy tale run continues.
