The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara did nothing wrong by reconciling with his political camp, describing the move as a necessary correction rather than an act of forgiveness.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday after inspecting ongoing road projects in Abuja, Wike dismissed claims that Fubara’s return signified an admission of wrongdoing. He stressed that politics is about decisions, not “sin,” and commended the governor for retracing his steps.
Wike noted that he had earlier predicted the reconciliation, insisting Fubara had no viable alternative but to return to the political structure that supported his emergence. He added that the development would strengthen unity within the camp and boost efforts toward President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
“We welcome him back. The goal is to work together to move the state forward and deliver for the president,” Wike said.
The reconciliation comes amid Wike’s inspection of major infrastructure projects in the FCT, including the ISEX Road Corridor and the nearly completed Apo-Karshi Road. He expressed satisfaction with progress, noting that parts of the long-delayed ISEX Road project could be completed by December if funding is released.
Wike emphasized that the administration remains committed to completing inherited projects rather than abandoning them, describing continuity as key to effective governance. He credited President Tinubu with prioritizing the completion of ongoing projects to safeguard public investment and accelerate development in the capital.
