Wike Claims He Forced Governor Lawal Out of PDP

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has claimed that he forced Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, out of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following a disagreement over a remark in which Lawal reportedly referred to him as “that guy.”

Wike made the claim on Tuesday during a media parley in Abuja, insisting that Lawal’s financial resources could not match his influence within the party.

“Ask the governor of Zamfara State. When he was in PDP, I chased him away. He had money. They couldn’t withstand me,” Wike said.

The minister also alleged that Lawal had money he was keeping for another person but provided no details to support the claim.

Wike further criticized the governor for defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), recalling that Lawal had previously accused him of undermining the PDP to benefit the ruling party.

The remarks highlight the continuing political tensions within the PDP and between its members and former members who have moved to the APC.
