Presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Donald Duke, has warned that Nigeria is on a dangerous path and requires urgent intervention to avoid a looming crisis.
Speaking on Tuesday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time, the former Cross River State governor said the country’s current direction prompted his return to active politics.
Duke called on opposition parties to unite, stressing that collective action is needed to change the nation’s trajectory.
“I returned to politics because of the urgency of where we are today. Disaster is looming if we don’t change direction,” he said.
He noted that many of those currently in leadership belong to the same political generation as himself but are failing to address critical national issues.
Duke added that remaining a passive observer was no longer an option, insisting that decisive action was needed to tackle Nigeria’s challenges.
His comments come amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections, for which he has emerged as the PRP’s presidential candidate.
The former governor has previously criticized governance and insecurity in the country, blaming longstanding leadership failures for worsening conditions.
