The Federal Government has suspended the recent increase in fees for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

The decision follows widespread public backlash over the hike, which had raised concerns among parents, students, and education stakeholders about affordability.
The suspension was announced on Monday in a statement by the Federal Ministry of Education. The ministry said the move was aimed at reviewing the situation and addressing concerns raised by the public.
Further details on a revised fee structure or next steps are yet to be announced.
