Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has come under criticism following a heated clash with Villarreal defender Santiago Mouriño during their pre-season friendly on Saturday.
Villarreal secured a 2-1 victory at RAMS Park, with Osimhen scoring Galatasaray’s only goal after Ayoze Pérez had opened the scoring from the penalty spot. Georges Mikautadze later restored Villarreal’s lead before half-time.
The match also saw tension between Osimhen and Mouriño, with the Galatasaray forward appearing to react angrily after being challenged by the Uruguayan defender.
Villarreal manager Iñigo Pérez criticized Osimhen after the match, claiming the Nigerian had attacked Mouriño and should have been shown a red card rather than a yellow.
“There is not much to say about the football, because the opposing team didn’t come onto the field to play football but to fight,” Pérez said.
“Osimhen attacked our player out of nowhere and only got a yellow card.”
The defeat was Galatasaray’s final pre-season test ahead of the new campaign, while Villarreal ended their preparations with a win.
