Two people have been confirmed dead following an attack at a cinema in Lekki, Lagos State.
The incident occurred on Friday night after a man armed with a machete and knife allegedly attempted to enter the cinema but was stopped by security guards.
Police spokesperson, SP Adebisi Abimbola, said the man became violent and allegedly stabbed one of the security guards to death while injuring another.
The suspect was subsequently mobbed and also died, bringing the death toll to two.
Abimbola said the identities of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death were under investigation.
She added that the cinema’s Chief Security Officer had been taken into custody, while police were working to obtain and review CCTV footage to determine the full sequence of events and whether others were involved.
The condition of the injured security guard was not immediately disclosed.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
