At least three people have been killed and two others injured following separate attacks on Elulu and Agadagba communities in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State.
The incidents occurred between Friday and Saturday night, when suspected armed herders reportedly invaded the communities.
A resident of Agadagba, identified as Ameh, said the attackers first struck Elulu on Friday, killing one person and stealing a motorcycle. They later returned on Saturday night to Agadagba, where they attempted to rustle cattle. Local youths resisted, but two people were shot dead during the confrontation.
The Chairman of Ohimini LGA, Gabriel Adole, confirmed the attacks, stating that three people were killed across both communities, while two others sustained injuries and are receiving treatment.
Security personnel, including police, have since been deployed to the affected areas. Authorities say calm is gradually returning.
Ohimini has experienced a series of violent incidents in recent weeks, which some residents link to the killing of a local leader of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in June 2026.
