Terror in Zamfara: Rector Flees as Bandits Kill, Kidnap

Suspected bandits have attacked the residence of the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, killing a security guard and abducting several residents in coordinated overnight raids.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, was disclosed by North-West crisis reporter Bakatsine on X.

According to the report, the attackers stormed Kaura Namoda around 1:00 a.m. and targeted the rector’s residence. During the assault, a security guard identified as Isah Yankaba was shot dead.

The rector, Dr. Aminu Yusuf, reportedly escaped with his wife and daughter by scaling the fence of the compound but sustained a leg injury while fleeing.

The gunmen later moved to Hayin Baguso, where they abducted the wife and daughter of a resident identified as Ibrahim.

An attempted attack on the residence of businessman Alhaji Salisu Azaria was, however, repelled after security operatives responded swiftly, forcing the assailants to retreat.

The attackers also reportedly kidnapped a university lecturer, Dr. Namadina Hamza, in the Low-Cost area before fleeing the town.

As of the time of filing this report, the Zamfara State Police Command has not issued an official statement on the incident.
