Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, has directed security personnel to immediately neutralize bandits and terrorists without waiting for further instructions.
The directive was issued on Wednesday in Sokoto State during the commissioning of 62 operational vehicles and security equipment valued at N27.1 billion, procured by the state government to strengthen security operations.
Addressing troops at the event, Musa stressed that any operative who delays action in anticipation of approval would be treated as a threat.
“Once you are deployed, do not wait for any order to act against bandits or terrorists,” he said, warning that hesitation in combat situations would not be tolerated.
The Minister also highlighted the importance of maintaining the newly acquired equipment, noting the significant investment made to improve security efforts.
“These assets cost billions of naira and must be properly maintained. We will return in a year to assess their condition,” he added.
The directive comes amid ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to intensify the fight against insecurity, particularly in the North-West region, where banditry and terrorism have remained persistent challenges.
