The office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has been unsealed by the Senate’s sergeant-at-arms, months after her suspension from legislative duties.
Located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, the office had remained locked since March 6, 2025, when the lawmaker was suspended for six months over alleged breaches of the Senate’s standing rules.
In a 25-second video shared Tuesday, Alabi Adedeji, Deputy Director, Sergeant-at-Arms, was seen removing the red seal from the door.
“I, Alabi Adedeji, deputy director, sergeant-at-arms, hereby unseal the office. The office is hereby unsealed. Thank you,” he declared.
It remains unclear, however, whether the move restores Akpoti-Uduaghan’s access to her office and the National Assembly complex, as the Senate has not issued a formal resolution on her status.
On September 9, the National Assembly barred the senator from resuming legislative duties, insisting her suspension was still under litigation despite a Federal High Court ruling on July 4 that described the sanction as excessive and unconstitutional.
The standoff highlights the tension between the judiciary’s decision and the Senate’s internal disciplinary stance, leaving the senator’s legislative future uncertain.
