Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles are set to face reigning African champions Senegal in two friendly matches as part of their preparations for the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The proposed friendlies will be played in Kaduna in early October, ahead of Nigeria’s two-legged qualifying tie against Ghana’s Black Sharks.
Nigeria and Ghana will meet in the first leg between October 9 and 11, with the return fixture scheduled for October 16–18. CAF is yet to officially confirm the venues and kick-off times.
The winner of the two-legged tie will qualify for the Beach Soccer AFCON, which Senegal will host from November 7 to 15. Senegal have already secured their place as hosts and reigning champions.
Twenty players are currently in camp in Kaduna as the Sand Eagles intensify preparations for the Ghana encounter. The team has been training at the Murtala Muhammed Square Sports Complex under coach Christopher Kadiri, with head coach Abdullahi Isa currently with the Golden Eaglets.
Nigeria missed the 2024 Beach Soccer AFCON after losing to Mauritania on the away-goals rule following a 10-10 aggregate draw. The two-time African champions are now seeking a return to the continental tournament.
