The Labour Party (LP) has urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the country despite persistent economic hardship, insecurity, and governance challenges.
The party made the call in a message marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary, saying the country’s continued existence as one nation despite decades of challenges remained something to celebrate.
LP acknowledged the missed opportunities and unfulfilled expectations since independence but urged citizens to remain hopeful and demand accountability from those in power.
“There will surely be joy in the morning,” the party said, stressing that Nigerians must not surrender hope for the country.
It also called on leaders at all levels to govern with empathy, justice, and transparency while prioritizing the welfare of citizens.
The party said meaningful change would require citizens to actively hold leaders accountable rather than give in to resignation or despair.
LP further urged Nigerians to consider the party’s candidates in the forthcoming elections, saying it had fielded candidates for various positions, from the presidency to state assemblies.
The party reaffirmed its belief in Nigeria’s ability to overcome its current challenges and realize its potential.
