The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 23 foreign nationals over alleged involvement in a Ponzi scheme, visa scam, and other immigration-related offences in the Onipanu-Ota area of the state.

The suspects were arrested last Tuesday around 11am after operatives of the Atan-Ota Division raided a gated residential building in an estate off Iyana Iyesi, following intelligence about suspected fraudulent activities at the location.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the police secured the premises and arrested the suspects. A Malian international passport bearing the name Diakite Alfousseini was also recovered.
The police said preliminary investigation showed that 21 suspects were handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service on August 5 for further investigation and appropriate action.
The remaining two suspects were retained by the police for possible prosecution over alleged obtaining by false pretense and related offences.
The command said the investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged scheme and identify other persons connected to it.
