The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has stopped a planned “Two Million Man March” by supporters of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso in Uyo, citing security concerns.

The march, organized by supporters of the Obi-Kwankwaso political movement, was scheduled for Thursday, October 1, with the Water Fountain in Uyo listed as the starting point.
The police directed all political parties, candidates, support groups, and other stakeholders to reschedule rallies, processions, and related political activities planned for the day.
In a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, the police said the directive followed security intelligence indicating a risk of disturbances and a possible breakdown of law and order.
The command said the measure was precautionary and non-partisan, urging organizers and participants to comply with the directive.
The Obidient Movement in Akwa Ibom criticized the cancellation, saying organizers had already spent money on mobilization, branding, and logistics. The group said it planned to announce a new date for the march.
Earlier reports also showed that the police had issued warnings against political rallies in the state over security concerns.
Claims by an aide to Peter Obi that OK Movement state coordinator Elijah Noah was arrested and that tear gas was fired at supporters could not be independently confirmed from the sources reviewed.
