The Lagos State Police Command has detained four officers and disbanded their tactical team following a viral video allegedly showing them harassing a young man in Odogunyan, Ikorodu.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this on Friday, saying the officers were attached to the Immortal Tactical Team in Ikorodu.
Adebisi said the officers were identified after the command launched an investigation into the footage and were summoned to the office of the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh.
She said the four officers had been detained pending disciplinary proceedings, while the entire tactical team had been disbanded.
The police spokesperson assured residents that appropriate action would be taken against any officer found guilty of misconduct.
She also urged members of the public to report police misconduct and commended residents for helping the command identify the officers.
Investigations and disciplinary proceedings are ongoing.
