The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, Mujahid Danjuma, over the alleged rape of a seven-year-old girl in Dass Local Government Area.
The police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said the victim’s mother reported the incident on September 28, alleging that it occurred on September 25 in the Bundot area of Dass.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly lured the girl into an uncompleted building and sexually assaulted her. The child was taken to General Hospital, Dass, for medical examination.
The command said Danjuma fled after the incident but was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, October 13, following intelligence-led operations.
He remains in custody and is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable persons.
The police said investigations are ongoing.
