Police Arrest Five Suspects, Recover Guns in Delta Raids

The Delta State Police Command has arrested five suspected criminals in separate operations in Ughelli North and Ika South Local Government Areas, recovering firearms, ammunition and other items.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement issued in Warri on Sunday.

Edafe said operatives of the CP-SAT unit arrested 29-year-old Thankgod Ejakpomewhe on October 16 during a raid on Ujode Community, Ughelli North, following intelligence about a suspected armed robbery syndicate.

A locally made long gun and a live cartridge were recovered, while other suspected members of the group fled. Police said efforts were ongoing to arrest them.

In a separate operation on October 15, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Ubuluku, arrested four suspects during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Alisimen Community, Ika South LGA.

The suspects were identified as Okwunzuwa Rubben, 28; John Onyeka, 42; Uzoma Ifeyinwa, 20; and Osas Atoe, 22.

Police recovered a double-barrelled pump-action firearm, five rounds of live ammunition, a laptop, six mobile phones, a camouflage cap and a jacket.

Edafe said investigations were ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Erale, commended the operatives and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and curbing the illegal circulation of firearms. He also urged residents to provide credible and timely information to the police.
