The Taraba State Police Command has pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Nigerian Army, schools, and other stakeholders to improve security across the state.

Commissioner of Police Edwin Ogbeghagha made the commitment in Jalingo while receiving separate visits from the Garrison Commander of 10 Division, Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. M.A. Oloyede; the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Safe School Club; and the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Taraba chapter.
Ogbeghagha said stronger inter-agency cooperation, intelligence sharing, and joint operations were essential to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace in the state.
Oloyede said his visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship and operational cooperation between the Army and police in responding to security challenges in Taraba and neighboring areas.
The PCRC Safe School Club, meanwhile, outlined plans to work with educational authorities, train school safety volunteers, and promote security awareness among students.
The initiative is part of the PCRC’s broader Safe School program, which received approval for nationwide implementation from Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu in June. The program is designed to improve school safety and strengthen community participation in policing.
The ASUSS delegation also discussed measures to improve the safety of teachers, students, and school facilities, including emergency response and information sharing.
Ogbeghagha assured the groups of the command’s support, saying security required cooperation among security agencies, schools, communities, and the public.
