Nigerian entertainers travelling to the United Kingdom are becoming more cautious about personal conduct and consent following the remand of dancer and hypeman Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, over five alleged sexual offences.
Snaresbrook Crown Court in London confirmed that Poco Lee faces one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape, and two counts of assault by penetration. He remains in custody and is due back in court on September 15, 2026, for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
The court has also imposed a reporting restriction to protect the anonymity of the complainant. Poco Lee has not been convicted and remains presumed innocent while the case proceeds.
Poco Lee travelled to the UK in August for the Davido and Friends concert at Crystal Palace Bowl. His management has urged the public and media to allow the legal process to run its course, stressing that allegations are not proof of guilt. It also dismissed reports linking the case to drink-spiking, saying such claims are not part of the charges before the court.
The case has since generated discussions among Nigerian entertainers about consent and the legal risks of socializing abroad.
Singer Koko Pee, whose real name is Okokowa Jerry, attracted attention after sharing videos of what he called “intention forms” and “consent forms” ahead of his UK show. He said the documents were meant to establish that any sexual encounter was voluntary and consensual, although the presentation was largely humorous.
Content creator Carter Efe has also faced warnings from social media users over videos showing him socializing with women in London, with some users referencing Poco Lee’s case and urging him to exercise caution.
Meanwhile, Portable has weighed in on the case, criticizing some of Poco Lee’s celebrity associates for not doing more to support him during his legal troubles in the UK.
The reactions have shifted attention beyond Poco Lee’s case to broader conversations about consent, personal conduct, and understanding local laws when Nigerian entertainers travel abroad.
As Poco Lee awaits his September 15 hearing, the charges against him remain allegations to be determined by the UK courts.
