Popular Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Odinaka, better known as Poco Lee, is reportedly being held on remand in the United Kingdom and is expected to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on September 15 over an alleged assault offence.
Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of a Nigerian community group in the UK, confirmed the development on Monday.
Kuti said Poco Lee is currently in a UK prison and is scheduled to appear before the court at 10am for a plea hearing, where he would ordinarily indicate whether he intends to plead guilty or not guilty.
He said he plans to attend the proceedings to support Poco Lee and urged the public to allow the legal process to take its course.
“Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” Kuti said.
A publicly available UK court record also lists a criminal case involving a person identified as Iweh Odinaka at Snaresbrook Crown Court. The record shows a hearing took place on August 21, 2026, but does not disclose the offence involved.
Reports of Poco Lee’s alleged detention first surfaced online on August 19, amid claims of a sexual offence. At the time, details about the alleged complainant, the circumstances of the case, and any formal charges were unclear, and there was no immediate public confirmation from UK police or the court.
The latest reports have identified the alleged offence as assault, but details of the case remain limited. An earlier report also said an email seeking confirmation from Snaresbrook Crown Court had not received a response at the time of filing.
Poco Lee has not publicly commented on the reported case. He remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court.
