Gunmen have killed the traditional ruler of Daffo community in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, Da Jatau Yohanna Samkwar, days after attacking him at his residence.

Samkwar, the Mishkaham Bokkos, was shot on Monday night, October 12, and taken to a hospital in Daffo before being referred to another medical facility, where he died on Wednesday, according to community leaders.
A youth leader, Malo Stephen, said the attackers invaded the monarch’s residence and shot him in the leg and head. The Mwaghavul Traditional Council, Bokkos branch, reportedly identified the assailants as Fulani militias, but their identities have not been independently verified.
Stephen disclosed that the monarch’s son had allegedly been kidnapped earlier but was released on Sunday, a day before the attack on his father.
Kefas Mallai, chairman of the Community Peace Observers in Bokkos, expressed concern over repeated attacks in the area. He also reported a separate incident in which two people were allegedly killed and another injured while travelling on a motorcycle.
Community leaders have called on security agencies to strengthen efforts to protect residents and prevent further attacks.
