The Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Ibadan North-East State Constituency 2 in the 2027 general elections, Hammed Taoreed Ademola, and an Accord aspirant, Adedapo Ojo, have defected to the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State.

The duo led about 3,000 supporters to the APC during a defection event held on Friday along Old Ife Road, Ibadan.
Ademola, popularly known as Lucky, said he abandoned his PDP ticket after assessing the political situation ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said he concluded that candidates outside the APC would face difficulties in the election, adding that he had decided to join the party with his supporters.
Ojo, who had been an Accord aspirant in the same constituency, said he joined the APC after concluding that Accord could not provide a viable political platform in the state.
Receiving the defectors, the Oyo State APC Chairman, Moses Alake-Adeyemo, assured them of equal opportunities and urged them to work for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The APC governorship candidate in the state, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, also welcomed the new members and promised an inclusive administration if elected.
Alli pledged regular payment of salaries and allowances to workers and pensioners, improved working conditions and the establishment of ICT hubs across Ibadan, Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso, Oyo, and Ibarapa.
He also promised to equip all 33 local government areas in the state with functional general hospitals.
The event was attended by the APC deputy governorship candidate Adesoji Adedeji, Oyo South senatorial candidate Aderemi Oseni, and other party leaders.
