Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), working with the police and local vigilantes, have rescued seven kidnapped victims in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State.
The rescue followed an intelligence-led operation on September 14 targeting suspected kidnappers operating around Amla-Icho, Ogobia and Anpekchi communities.
According to OPWS Acting Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, the suspects fled into the surrounding terrain after sighting the approaching security forces, abandoning the victims.
The troops secured the area and rescued all seven victims. They also recovered a vehicle linked to the suspected kidnappers and handed it over to the police for further investigation.
OPWS commended the security personnel and local vigilantes for their cooperation and urged residents to continue providing timely information to security agencies.
