The Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 46-year-old businessman, Akinbolusere Kayode, popularly known as Tolufe, who was found dead in his office in Igba Town.

Kayode, owner of Esther Estate, reportedly died on Thursday, October 29, 2026, after allegedly taking a poisonous substance at his office near BOVAS Petrol Station.
The police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, saying officers attached to the Bolorunduro Division recovered two empty bottles suspected to have contained insecticide from a nearby bush.
Jimoh said the businessman had reportedly recorded a video before his death, speaking about his business challenges, personal struggles and plans to leave his properties to his wife and three children. The video has since circulated on social media.
He added that the deceased’s remains had been deposited at the State Hospital morgue for further examination. Preliminary findings showed no visible injuries or signs of violence on his body.
The Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, has ordered a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s family has questioned the circumstances surrounding the video and called for further investigation, raising suspicions that he may have been pressured into making the recording.
The police have urged the public to avoid speculation while investigations continue.
