Kano Pillars technical adviser Daniel Ogunmodede has praised his players for their impressive 4-1 victory over Doma United in Sunday’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash in Kano.
The Sai Masu Gida ended Doma United’s unbeaten start to the season with a convincing win at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
Abdullahi Musa opened the scoring before Rabiu Ali doubled Pillars’ lead. Sadiq Rilwan pulled one back for Doma United after the break, but Ahmed Musa and substitute Nasiru Salihu added two more goals to seal the victory.
Ogunmodede said Pillars expected a difficult contest against a Doma side that had won their opening three matches without conceding.
“We expected a tough game because they had gone three matches unbeaten with nine points and never conceded, but we prepared very well for them,” he said.
He added that the postponement of Pillars’ previous fixture gave his team more time to prepare for the league leaders.
The result moved Kano Pillars to third place with seven points, while Doma United remained top with nine points despite suffering their first defeat of the campaign.
