Nigeria’s Goodness Nwachukwu delivered a record-breaking performance to win gold in the women’s F42-44/F61-64 discus event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The defending champion produced her best throw in the final round, reaching 39.66m to surpass her previous world record by more than three metres and secure Nigeria’s seventh gold medal at the Games.
Wales’ Funmi Oduwaiye claimed silver with a throw of 38.52m, while compatriot Bree Cronin took bronze after recording a season-best 36.00m.
In the women’s shot put, Nigeria’s Jessica Oji added to the medal haul with a silver medal throw of 17.87m.
Nigeria currently sits fifth on the medals table with seven gold, five silver and two bronze medals, continuing a strong showing at the Glasgow Games, which feature a record number of para-athletics events.
