The Delta State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized illicit drugs worth an estimated N2 billion and secured 248 convictions between July 2025 and September 2026.
The state commander, Halilu Hamidu, disclosed this on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, during a briefing on the command’s operations.
Hamidu said operatives seized 2.446 tonnes of solid drugs and 1,304.6 litres of liquid substances during the period.
The recovered drugs included cannabis, tramadol, codeine, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, diazepam, and other psychotropic substances.
He said 223 drug-related cases were still pending in court, while 35.2 hectares of cannabis farms were destroyed across the state.
Among the major operations, the command raided a warehouse at Oko Market, Asaba, recovering illicit substances worth more than N150 million.
It also intercepted three trucks carrying codeine and other psychotropic substances, as well as two commercial buses on the Onitsha-Asaba Expressway carrying drugs valued at more than N300 million.
Hamidu added that 693 drug-dependent persons were counselled during the period as part of efforts to reduce drug abuse in the state.
He said the command would continue intelligence-led operations to prevent Delta from being used as a transit route, storage point, or distribution hub for illicit drugs.
