The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested 68 suspected drug traffickers and seized 7,531.51kg of illicit drugs in August.
The state NDLEA Commander, Mitchell Ofoyeju, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying the suspects comprised 34 males and 34 females.
He said the drugs included 7,524.83kg of cannabis, 5.3311kg of psychotropic substances, 0.0668kg of methamphetamine and 34.8 litres of codeine syrup.
Ofoyeju added that operatives destroyed four cannabis farms in Orhionmwon and Owan West Local Government Areas, with an estimated yield of 6,433.33kg.
No conviction was secured during the month due to the Federal High Court vacation, although three new cases were filed and 87 others remain pending.
The command also counselled 23 people, provided vocational training for 12 others and conducted five sensitization programs attended by more than 2,150 participants.
Ofoyeju said the agency would continue working with relevant stakeholders to tackle drug trafficking and substance abuse in the state.
