The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Edo State Command, arrested 42 suspected drug traffickers and seized 9,520 kg of illicit substances in September 2026.

The command also declared a suspected drug trafficker, Gospel Mudiaga Odeh, popularly known as Omega, wanted after he reportedly escaped arrest during an operation.
Edo State NDLEA Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju disclosed this in the command’s monthly operational scorecard, which covered drug enforcement, rehabilitation, and substance abuse prevention activities.
Ofoyeju said 22 of the 42 suspects arrested were women and 20 were men. He said operatives recovered 989 grams of Loud, 13 grams of Colorado, and 83 grams of methamphetamine from a salesgirl linked to Odeh.
According to him, Odeh fled during the operation, abandoning his black Toyota Matrix. Operatives recovered 65 grams of cannabis, N1.16 million, and 55 Ethiopian birr from the vehicle.
Ofoyeju said the command destroyed 10 cannabis farms covering 3.69 hectares, with an estimated yield of 9,248.26 kg. Other seizures included 245.29 kg of cannabis, 25.97 kg of psychotropic substances, 0.66 kg of methamphetamine, and 62.6 litres of codeine syrup.
He said three convictions were secured during the month, while 83 cases remained pending before various courts.
Beyond enforcement, the command counselled 28 clients and provided vocational training in tailoring, embroidery, and liquid soap production to support rehabilitation and reintegration.
Ofoyeju expressed concern over the increasing involvement of women in drug trafficking and called for stronger support from stakeholders in tackling illicit drug use and trafficking in the state.
