The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned state chairmen and other party officials against collecting registration fees from support groups, declaring that the process is free.
The party said the warning followed reports that some state chairmen were demanding payments from groups seeking registration.
In a statement on Friday, the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, said registration of support groups was exclusively handled by the Directorate of Support Groups at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
He said no state chapter, officer, or party official was authorized to register support groups or collect money for the process.
The party directed all support groups seeking registration to submit their applications and inquiries to the national directorate.
It also warned that any official who violated the directive would face disciplinary action under the party’s constitution.
The NDC reaffirmed its support for affiliated groups, including the Obidient and Kwankwasiya movements, saying it would continue to provide an enabling environment for them to participate in the party’s activities.
