The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Adamawa State Command, has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate and recovered N34 million in cash.
The suspects, identified as 55-year-old Alhaji Jaye and 34-year-old Buba Bello, were arrested on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
The NIS said the suspects told investigators that the money was intended as ransom for the release of Bello’s brother. The Comptroller-General of the service has directed that the suspects and recovered cash be handed over to the Adamawa State Police Command for further investigation.
In a separate operation, the command intercepted 17 irregular migrants at a private three-bedroom residence in Rumde Baru, Yola South Local Government Area.
The migrants comprised 13 Cameroonian nationals, eight males and five females, and four male Chadian nationals.
The NIS said the operation followed credible intelligence and noted a growing shift among undocumented migrants from hotels to private and unregistered apartments.
The command said it would continue efforts to strengthen migration management, border security, and territorial protection in the state.
