Morocco Beat Cameroon 2–0 to Reach AFCON Semifinals

Host nation Morocco have qualified for the semifinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Cameroon 2–0 on Friday. The match was played at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Brahim Diaz scored the first goal in the first half, continuing his fine form at the tournament. Ismael Saibari added the second goal in the second half to secure the win for the Atlas Lions.

Morocco started the match strongly and took the lead in the 26th minute when Diaz broke through Cameroon’s defence and scored. It was his fifth game in a row scoring at the tournament.

Cameroon struggled to break down Morocco’s well-organised defence. They appealed for a penalty in the second half after Bryan Mbeumo went down in the box, but the referee allowed play to continue.

Although Morocco did not create many chances, they made good use of the few they had. Saibari scored the second goal in the 74th minute to put the result beyond doubt.

Cameroon failed to register a single shot on target, leaving Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou with little to do.

Morocco, who finished top of Group A and defeated Tanzania in the round of 16, will now play the winner of Saturday’s quarterfinal between Nigeria and Algeria. The semifinal match will be played in Rabat on Wednesday.

Earlier on Friday, Senegal reached the semifinals after beating Mali 1–0. Meanwhile, Egypt are set to face Ivory Coast in another quarterfinal match.
