Operatives of the Lagos State Taskforce have arrested 46 suspects and recovered suspected illicit drugs and a locally made firearm during coordinated enforcement operations across key parts of the state.
The raids, which began around 9 a.m. on Friday, targeted areas including Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Obalende Underbridge, Law School Junction, Maroko, and locations along the Lekki-Epe Expressway such as Sandfill and Marwa bus stops.
Authorities said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to tackle street crime, illegal motorcycle operations, drug trafficking, and public disorder.
Speaking at the taskforce headquarters in Bolade, Oshodi, Chairman CSP Adetayo Akerele confirmed that normalcy had been restored in the affected areas. Items recovered include substances suspected to be Indian hemp, Colorado, and cannabis, as well as a cutlass and a locally made gun.
Akerele added that all suspects will be prosecuted under relevant state laws, including the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law (2017) and the Transport Sector Reform Law (2018).
He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to sustained enforcement, warning that criminal activities will not be tolerated across the state.
