New Caledonia striker Joceline Kourevi has expressed pride after scoring her country’s only goal in their 10-1 defeat to Nigeria’s Falconets at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The tournament debutants were heavily beaten by Moses Aduku’s side in their final Group F game in Łódź, Poland, on Sunday.
Despite the loss, Kourevi said scoring at the World Cup was a proud moment for both herself and her country.
“This is a source of great pride for the country. I’m very proud too, because it’s a first for me. It’s the first time we’ve been in the World Cup, and we’re a small country as well,” she told FIFA.
New Caledonia finished bottom of Group F without a point after three matches, while Nigeria advanced to the Round of 16 after finishing second in the group.
