Kanu’s Lawyers Threaten Lawsuit Over ‘Kill Him’ TV Remark

The legal team of Nnamdi Kanu has threatened legal action against a television guest and News Central Television over remarks allegedly calling for Kanu’s extrajudicial killing.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, condemned comments reportedly made by Chigozie Nnabugwu during a program on the station. The guest was said to have urged the Federal Government to kill Kanu “for normalcy to return to the Southeast.”

The lawyers described the remarks as “reckless and unlawful,” warning they could incite violence and threaten public order. They said the comments may violate Nigeria’s Cybercrimes Act and provisions of the Criminal Code on incitement.

They also accused the broadcaster of airing inflammatory content and warned it could face regulatory sanctions or contempt proceedings, given that Kanu’s trial is ongoing.

The legal team demanded an immediate retraction from Nnabugwu and a televised apology from the station, stating that failure to comply could lead to formal legal action.
