A Federal High Court in Abuja has cleared former President Goodluck Jonathan to run in the 2027 presidential election.

The ruling came after a legal challenge by Johnmary Jideobi, who sought to block Jonathan’s candidacy and stop INEC from processing his nomination.
Jideobi questioned Jonathan’s eligibility under the 1999 Constitution, but Justice Peter Lifu ruled on Tuesday that the former president remains qualified to contest.
The development follows a move by a faction of the PDP, led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, which recently granted Jonathan a waiver and endorsed him as its sole candidate.
