Insider Threat: Soldier Arrested Over Alleged Terror Links

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a Nigerian soldier previously declared wanted for allegedly supplying military uniforms to terrorist groups in the North-East.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development in a statement on X, identifying the suspect as Private Mohammed Yusuf of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Training Facility in Lagos.

According to the statement, Yusuf was arrested around 6:30 p.m. on July 25, 2026, by troops of the 7 Provost Group. He had reportedly absconded from his unit and traveled to Maiduguri earlier in July, where he went into hiding.

Preliminary findings indicate that he was sheltered in Gomari Costain, Jere Local Government Area of Borno State, by another soldier, Private Baba Kamal Sale of the Corps of Intelligence.

Acting on intelligence, troops placed Yusuf under surveillance and later intercepted him at Jidari Bus Stop as he allegedly attempted to flee to Cameroon.

He is currently in military custody, where investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of his alleged activities and identify possible accomplices.

Military authorities described the arrest as a major step in efforts to dismantle insider networks supporting terrorist operations.
