Nigerian singer and content creator Kokopee has revealed how he became involved in the disagreement between Afrobeats star Davido and social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM).

Kokopee said VDM questioned his involvement in the dispute, asking whether Davido had promised him a free music collaboration.
Speaking in an Instagram video, Kokopee explained that he was not involved when the two men became friends but stepped in when their relationship began to deteriorate.
He said VDM contacted him to complain about something Davido had allegedly done, prompting him to advise the activist to reach out to either Israel DMW or Ubi Franklin.
According to him, Davido also contacted him privately, and he tried to explain why VDM felt betrayed by the singer. However, Davido disagreed with his explanation.
Kokopee said he later spoke with VDM about Davido’s position, but the activist questioned why he was getting involved in the singer’s affairs and whether he had been promised a free collaboration.
To avoid being accused of betraying VDM, Kokopee said he decided to withdraw from the disagreement, although he still advises the activist privately.
He added that he could only advise the two men and could not force them to settle their differences.
Addressing critics who doubted his claim that Davido contacted him, Kokopee insisted that the singer was not too big to send him a private message.
“I did not disclose the content of my chat with Davido, and Davido is not too big to message me,” he said.
He also dismissed his critics, declaring, “I’m only humble, not hungry.”
Meanwhile, Davido appeared to question Kokopee’s account on Friday, October 30, by posting a cap emoji on social media, a slang expression commonly used to suggest that a claim is untrue.
