Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda says more than 7,000 girls have benefited from skills training and empowerment programs under his administration.

Governor Radda disclosed this in a statement marking the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child on Sunday, October 11, reaffirming his commitment to girls’ education, protection, and economic empowerment.

He said the government trained and empowered 4,555 girls between 2023 and 2026, including 1,000 in 2025 and 1,500 in 2026.

According to the governor, the administration also distributed 1,000 back-to-school kits in 2026 to out-of-school girls and those at risk of dropping out. Another 1,393 children benefited from the UNICEF-supported REACH program and back-to-school campaign.

Governor Radda added that safe spaces and mentorship programs established in four local government areas had reached 6,120 children, including 200 girls, with guidance, protection, and psychosocial support.

He also disclosed that 100 persons with disabilities received mobility aids in 2026.

The governor pledged to sustain efforts to expand access to education, vocational skills, and protection services for girls across the state, describing their development as essential to Katsina’s future.
