Governor Radda Reaffirms Support for Football Development

Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to football development, describing the sport as a tool for youth empowerment, talent discovery, peace, and unity.

Governor Radda spoke on Thursday when he received the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau, and other federation officials at the Government House in Katsina.

He said Katsina has talented young footballers capable of succeeding nationally and internationally, adding that the government would continue to provide opportunities for them to develop their skills.

Governor Radda also said football could help keep young people away from negative influences by providing constructive opportunities and promoting interaction among youths from different backgrounds.

He commended the NFF for its support for Katsina United and recalled the state government’s efforts to strengthen the club, which he said contributed to its progress and promotion.

The governor assured the NFF that his administration would sustain its support for Katsina United, grassroots football, and other initiatives aimed at developing young talents.

Speaking earlier, Gusau commended Governor Radda for his commitment to football development, particularly his support for Katsina United and grassroots initiatives.

The NFF president said football goes beyond competition, describing it as an important tool for promoting peace, unity, and social development.

Gusau said the federation would continue to work with the Katsina State Government and other stakeholders to develop football at the grassroots and create more opportunities for young Nigerians.

The meeting followed the conclusion of the 2026 Gusau/Ahlan Pre-Season Football Tournament in Katsina, which featured 16 clubs from the NPFL and NNL.
