Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has approved N500 million as the state’s counterpart funding for nutrition commodities to tackle acute malnutrition among children.
The approval was made at the 15th meeting of the Katsina State Executive Council on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
Commissioner for Health Musa Adamu said the funding would support the procurement of essential nutrition commodities for children suffering from acute malnutrition.
The council also approved the procurement of 95,000 bags of assorted grains for distribution to vulnerable residents across the state.
Commissioner for Information and Culture Salisu Bala Zango said the measure was part of efforts to cushion the effects of economic hardship. Other approved interventions include non-food items and cash support for orphans, widows, persons with special needs, and other vulnerable residents.
The council further approved the modernization of markets in Daura, Dandume, Mashi, and Jibia, as well as the rehabilitation of 81 Jumu’at mosques across the state.
It also approved the establishment of the Katsina State Model United Nations Organization to expose young people to leadership, diplomacy, and public service.
The council approved measures to improve coordination and accountability in the implementation of the World Bank-supported HOPE-GOV, HOPE-PHC, and HOPE-EDU programs.
Governor Radda said his administration would continue to prioritize healthcare, social protection, infrastructure, and opportunities for young people across the state.
