Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is set to commission 10 major projects across the state between August 17 and 28, as his administration intensifies its infrastructure development drive.
The projects, spread across several local government areas, include roads, bridges, hospitals, educational facilities, and other public infrastructure.
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Dagogo Wokoma, announced the schedule during a media briefing with journalists in Port Harcourt on Friday.
The commissioning will begin on August 17 with the Buguma-Degema-Abonnema Road, linking communities in Asari-Toru, Degema and Akuku-Toru Local Government Areas.
Other projects include the Egwi-Afara-Mba Road in Etche, the Entrepreneurship Centre/Engineering Faculty Building of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, the Elele-Egbeda-Omoku Dual Carriageway, and the Omoku Zonal Hospital.
The program will continue with the Omademe Internal Roads on August 24, the new runway at the Air Force Base, Rumuola, on August 25, and the Agba Ndele Road and Bridge on August 26.
Two major health facilities, the Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital and the New General Hospital, Rumuigbo, will be commissioned on August 27, while the program will end on August 28 with the commissioning of Bonny National Grammar School.
Wokoma said the projects demonstrated the administration’s commitment to delivering infrastructure and improving living conditions across the state’s 23 local government areas.
He also commended contractors, government officials, host communities, and other stakeholders for their roles in completing the projects, while urging residents to participate in the commissioning activities.
