FIFA has said Nigeria has the talent to qualify for the 2030 World Cup but warned that stability will be the deciding factor.
In its latest assessment, FIFA noted that the Super Eagles have a strong history, reaching the Round of 16 in 1994, 1998, and 2014 but missing the last two tournaments.
Nigeria came close to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup but fell short in the playoffs after losing to DR Congo on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
Despite the setback, FIFA described Nigeria as one of Africa’s most promising football nations due to its deep talent pool. However, it stressed that ability alone will not secure qualification.
According to FIFA, Nigeria’s chances of reaching the 2030 World Cup will depend largely on building a stable football structure capable of delivering consistent performances.
